Children, not to mention many adults, have always been fascinated by flight, so parents often bring young family members to watch planes take off and land -- particularly on bright spring weekends and crisp fall mornings. But what about taking off and landing yourself?

Sightseeing Flights. For a different perspective, why not enjoy a sightseeing flight over central Carolina? For an hourly fee, up to three people can soar above Sanford and the Research Triangle Area together, guided by a professional pilot. Awe children with their first flight. Take photographs from a perspective few people get to experience. Or, give a special aerial tour as a gift to someone who has everything.

EAA Young Eagles Annual Fly-In. Each year, the airport sponsors the Experimental Aircraft Association's Young Eagles, a program offering free plane rides to children from eight to 17 years of age. Chairman Chuck Yeager leads the EAA's effort to introduce youth to the joy of flying.

Aviation Field Trips. School, scout and other community groups visit throughout the year for educational field trips. Tailored to the needs of each group, trips can include facility tours, a close-up look at aircraft and even sightseeing flights.

Certification and Licensing Examinations. The airport testing center offers a wide range of certification and licensing exams using LaserGrade. Many federal agencies and professional The LaserGrade service also provides licensure and certification testing for scores of associations use the service. Any LaserGrade-based examination -- whether the subject is aviation or cosmetology -- is available.
